There's an interesting paradox with regards to modern demonolatry- Many people look to older canons for information on the demons, but most of those texts were written by biased Christians who were only looking to forcibly harness the powers of demons by binding them with the names of God and angels in order to do their own bidding. So, canon has to be taken with a grain of salt. However, there is also common disdain directed towards people who publish their own experiences... Despite people actively wanting new content to read about. You really can't win here. So I'm just writing stuff and hoping it helps someone.
DISCLAIMER:
Everything listed here is my own subjective experience. Most big entities like major demons or gods are very multi-faceted and will show different sides to people (kind of like how we might have a work mode/home mode). This isn't even getting into the fact that big guys will often send other demons to act on their behalf or are just a bunch of guys in a trench coat. So like... The version of Asmodeus you summon might be a different version of Asmodeus than what someone else works with even though they're both genuinely "Asmodeus", and that's OK.
I actually recommend not getting too caught up in other people's UPG if you don't like it. The important thing is that whatever type of magic or rituals or whatever you do ends up enriching your life and making you happier. However, some people enjoy reading other people's experiences, or newbies might want a push in the right direction and want to hear info from first-hand accounts in order to make a more informed decision. So that's why I'm writing stuff here.
I only write about demons I have personally tried to invoke at least a few times. I also try to be culturally sensitive and only work with spirits that are "free game" and open, or ones where I am personally a part of that culture. So, certain entities that are exclusively Jewish such as Lilith and Naamah I don't have any experience with, but I'm pretty open to other demons that appear in other Christian grimoires. (While some demons, such as Asmodeus, have very obvious roots in Judaism, a lot of other demons were invented later by Christians, or will be shared by multiple religions.) I will also be prioritizing demons that have less info written about them already or ones that I've worked with a lot.
Due to the multi-faceted nature of entities (disregarding the presence of any imposter spirits), just because I have a good experience with one, doesn't mean you're going to also have a good experience with them. Exercise caution and just do whatever you vibe with. While I think things like spirit work are generally safe to do so long as you're not purposefully antagonizing things, I am not responsible if you get yourself into a pickle.
Once I actually manage to put all my write-ups here, it may seem like... A lot. And it is. But most people don't need to work with so many demons. A lot of people just pick their favorite one(s) and stick to them, and I actually encourage that for most people. I, however, have been actively advised by other spirits to work with as many different entities as possible that I feel comfortable with. So, I'm going to make use of that.
Western Demons, General
This is for demons that appear in Western demonology. Some appear in multiple religions, though these will mostly be from grimoires that Christians wrote. These are the "canon" demons who supposedly exist. (All spirit work stuff is just made up to some extent but basically these are demons I found somewhere else.) Some demons have alternate spellings of their names that are common- here I'm using the spellings I usually use.
