Information on Sonnellion. "Canon" information on this demon is sparse. She was seemingly first recorded by Sebastien Michaelis' text in 1613, and then by Dukantè in 1963.

Overview

Sonnellion is often simplified as the "demoness of hate". While that isn't wrong, it feels mind-numbingly simple and stereotypical-sounding for such a unique entity. "Hatred" might be a straightforward concept to a lot of people, but keep in mind that it also includes things like righteous fury, or revenge served cold.

Personal Experiences, Detailed

Sonnellion was the first demon listed in the Dukante heirarchy that caught my eye. I had been interested in her for a while, but had refrained from reaching out or invoking her due to being worried about whether I was at the right "level" to even try. However, I probably shouldn't have been too worried about it. If you're already used to demons that are well-known for their intense energies, Sonnellion shouldn't be a problem.

While any spirit is capable of taking someone under their wing if they particularly feel like it, she is less likely to be hand-holdy than other spirits towards the general populace, which is why it is often recommended that newbies stay away. "Enter at your own risk" sort of deal.

First Impressions

My first experiences with Sonnellion were actually through several failed attempts to contact her. I say "failed", but it was more like I called her up to ask if she wanted to work with me, and she said "no". Or, rather, the response I'd get back wasn't a full-on "no", but more of a "not yet". I was a bit confused by this at first- I hadn't actually had this sort of problem with a demonic entity before. I've been temporarily rejected by demons due to my energy, but usually after realizing I'm not here to be a jackass, they turn around and are fine with me.

Eventually, I realized what my problem was. If you have to ask whether or not you're ready to work with Sonnellion, you're not ready to work with Sonnellion. And I don't mean in an experience sense- I mean in the sense you just have to take the initiative and be willing to go, "fuck it, let's do this."

Once I removed my personal reservations, she responded in kind.

Other

Sonnellion's energies should be no problem to people who are already attuned to "Hellish" types of beings, though she may give an intense feeling to those who are sensitive to rage. I've heard a few people say that her energies can be uncomfortable.

Offerings-wise, she's picky, but also not. I don't know how to explain it. Things should be in a general field of relevance, but the specifics don't matter. So, as an example- people often associate spices with heat and will use spices or spicy food in their offerings for spirits like this. However, the specific spice does not matter. So, you could offer her a pepper, or you could offer her cinnamon. (I will note, however, that cinnamon is more 'traditional' and common, so it is a safe bet if you're still unsure.)

If you don't have any ideas, anything associated with "heat" or intensity is good. Alcohol, open flame/smoke (candles/incense), the color red, glowing things, spices, etc. I have the feeling that physical offerings are better over digital or astral ones, but if you are unable to give physical offerings, other mediums may suffice. If you feel comfortable with it, blood is also very good- both as a standard offering given to a lot of demons, but also due to the obvious connotations with bloodshed.

She has an obvious association with Mars, but I would also say that Pluto-related things should work depending on what you're trying to accomplish with her, as well as the fiery part of Venus. (Remember- physically-speaking, the planet Venus is insanely hot, toxic, and hellish, despite being so beautiful.)

Sonnellion is good for both short-term and long-term workings, depending on what you need. She's very versatile. Revenge curses are a good specialty of hers. I will say though- if you invoke her for a curse, you're going to have to put your own energy into it as well. While some demons will gladly cause chaos for a few offerings and a prayer, with Sonnellion you're usually going to have to put in more active work magic-wise. Get creative with your curses! Sonnellion's nature means she's best suited for assisting with curses that cause someone's own downfall (E.g. Causing the target to "act out" at work or in front of friends, causing the target to make impulsive and bad decisions.)

If you're one for more benefic workings or self-improvement, Sonnellion can help you grow a spine.

I would not recommend invoking Sonnellion if you have anger issues, unless you are specifically invoking her for her help on controlling said issues, so you can redirect your rage into something more constructive. Due to the fact her energies can also be chaotic, I would also recommend not invoking her alongside other entities at the same time unless you're sure the energies vibe well with each other.

Identifying The Spirit

To be honest, her energies kind of remind me of Andras, but looser and more capable of being fluid. If Andras is a needle, Sonnellion is a whole syringe- including its contents. Element-wise, Sonnellion represents the cross between fire and water- like a scalding hot pot and steam. She gives off a feeling like something is glaring into your soul.

That's not to say she's a hothead- while her influence is good for obvious go-getter type workings, she is skilled in the art of wars of attrition. Sometimes "fire" is about your inner flame and resilience, rather than just scorching everything to the ground.

Sonnellion does not appear to me in any specific form most of the time, but this could be because she does not have a lot of artwork of her, so my brain has not latched onto any particular associations. I sometimes get imagery of black claws and red eyes, however, even if she does not show other defining features. I also will occasionally get glimpses of skin and fur that may be a bit leathery and lightly furry, like bat wings/ears.

I assume she can be more conversational under the right circumstances, but the majority of the time she will give off curt, blunt answers. If you're the type to ask a spirit what they want for offerings, give her a yes/no question or let her choose from a list of things you have to offer, rather than making a general, open-ended request.

Sonnellion has been helpful with certain aspects of my shadow work. I sometimes have a fear of being a "monster", as I am often the "odd one out", and many spirits and people are scared of me. Sonnellion's response was demanding that I instead own it, and that me being unusual and having the capacity to be ruthless is sometimes necessary to get what I want or to protect people.
