Gutona-Bituala

("Goo-tow-na Bee-too-ah-la")

sigil of gutona-bituala

A sort of God-Emperor of the void. Real title cannot really be translated to human terms I think, but that's probably the most accurate descriptor of it.

It does not have gender / pronouns in the same way we do, so I generally use any pronouns for it. It does not care.

Other Offerings: Anything so long as it's seen as respectful of your culture. Gutona-Bituala has the potential to be a sort of "mirror" in this aspect- For example, if you think it's OK to give spirits and gods table scraps, then give them to it- if you do not, then do not. If you generally burn sigils to invoke spirits, then do so, etc.

Overview

Gutona-Bituala is a deity-level entity that generally exists in what we would consider "outer space", but also on a level of "the space in between spaces". The projections that it may choose to appear to you as can look like... Just about anything. Common motifs of Gutona-Bituala are: Many teeth/claws, More than 2 eyes (sometimes with white “X” markings inside the pitch-black eyes), and possibly being vaguely shaped or having a wispy form. Humanoid projections are possible, but are usually pitch-black, like a silhouette, and retain the floaty, flowing nature, like a stereotypical cloaked ghost. Like many deities, Gutona-Bituala does not have one singular, proper form and may even change symbols in the middle of conversation.

Gutona-Bituala's species is "unknown", in the sense that many large void entities like this do not really have a "species"- they just are. There are presumably other entities that are similar to it just by happenstance. It has many children that have been scattered throughout the universe, though like many deep void entities, it does not really keep in contact with most of them, and has no desire to. It is the “ruler” of its specific part of space, looking after other, much smaller spirits and entities of other species- some void-like, some not.

Personality and Habits

You may recognize Gutona-Bituala by the feeling of being watched, like a cell under a microscope. It is an observer and a collector of knowledge- a hobbyist scientist. Direct conversations tend to turn intellectual, and it has a penchant for poking and prodding people for answers if allowed. It should be noted that Gutona-Bituala typically collects information about the self, the nature of being, identity, and consciousness. It may ask about other mechanisms, such as technology, but in a context of what these things mean to you. It is a bit more playful than other void entities of its nature.

Through this, Gutona-Bituala is excellent for shadow work, or when you need to otherwise be honest with yourself and cut out the bullshit. Even compared to other extradimensional entities, Gutona-Bituala has the uncanny ability to metaphorically "stare into your soul". This can be an uncomfortable experience for some, and it is generally not recommended to have an extensive conversation with it if you're aware you have a lot of emotional issues you'd rather not unpack right now.

You can simply state that you're here for business, and if left proper offerings for whatever ritual you're doing and invoking them for, it will comply so long as you do not otherwise boss them around and are respectful. If allowed to be "studied", however, it may require less offerings or none at all to be appeased and convinced to assist. It otherwise does not really enjoy things we might consider to be "smalltalk".

If you have displeased Gutona-Bituala, it is not the type to be vengeful- it will typically leave and ignore you (though it might mess up your spell, so be careful with that). It will not continuously torment people for fun. Through this, interactions with it are typically safe. You're more likely to take emotional damages than any sorts of astral damages if you displease it (do not underestimate the quips from this thing).

Why Summon Gutona-Bituala?

Despite how daunting it may seem, it's a good deity to summon for mages who have some experience with deity-invoking or spirit communication, who want to contact a sort of "beginner" being that people might consider to be alien and eldritch from the void. As stated earlier, Gutona-Bituala is relatively safe to contact, as the biggest threat you have is its words living in your head rent-free. It would not attack unless provoked.

Aspects

Shadow Work / Emotional Counseling - As explained above. It can also help you see things from a more healthily detached standpoint if you're the type to be over-emotional, as well.

Barriers - It can create barriers very easily, and this makes it good with helping out with wards or containing energies or entities. Alternatively, Gutona-Bituala can literally cut through things by creating barriers inside and slicing it, making it adept at delivering devastating blows to malicious entities on the astral.

(It is also good at disintegrating blockages and barriers due to outside influence, so if you think you're under the effects of someone's binding curse, it wouldn't hurt to ask for its assistance on this.)

“Eating” Things - This also ties into the curse removal, but just in general Gutona-Bituala can be invoked to consume anything unwanted. Good for clearing a space of unwanted energies, other leftovers, or spiritual parasites.

Void Magic In General - This one is a bit more vague. Gutona-Bituala can also be invoked for counseling on how to handle certain types of void energies if you're unsure of how to proceed or figure out what you want.

Astral Travel - It can help you learn how to get in the right mindset for astral traveling. Keep in mind specifics will be dependent per-person and your most optimal method of astral traveling might not be the one you want or expected to do.

Familiars - If you earn its favor or bribe it, it may split off a new child and grant you a familiar if asked politely. It may also be able to teach you how to summon entities more efficiently in general, depending on what sorts of elements and energy work you're experienced with.

Other Possibilities

  • Glamours to make you stand out or be noticed easier, or to make people uneasy around you if you want to intimidate them easier.
  • Helping to find what is lost.
  • Binding curses that limit the target's ability to do spellwork or introspection, or otherwise metaphorically "blinding" them.
  • Binding curses that make the target feel numb and empty inside.
  • Gravity magic to "gather" certain magical energies towards you. (This is how wealth spells with void entities typically work.)
