Solar Eclipse Spell Oil, for Kickassery

This is how I make my "get the fuck out of my house" anointing oil, using the power of a solar eclipse.

Note: This oil has cinnamon in it, and wouldn't be good for sensitive skin. It's mostly meant for dressing sigils and such. However, feel free to change out any ingredient with an appropriate substitute. The reasons I choose the ingredients will be explained so you can make a decision on how best to proceed on your own.

This guide is not meant for complete beginners, I'm going to assume you know basic things like cleansing your altar. This oil was also specifically made for a "ring of fire" annular eclipse, though it should work well with any other sort of solar eclipse.

Also... Make sure all the herbs are properly dried first.

INGREDIENTS

  • Castor + Jojoba Oil - I used about 50/50, but you can use one or the other if you don't have both. Mix thoroughly. These are your carrier oils and will be the majority of the anointing oil. The castor oil is for using this oil "passively" defensively. The jojoba oil is for using this oil "actively" defensively. IDK how else to explain that but it's the difference between casting a ward and doing a counterspell. Take this as you will.
  • Gold and Silver foil - The high quality kind in sheets that you eat. This is to represent the mix of solar and lunar energies coming together. You don't need a whole lot, just enough for a few flakes per bottle.
  • Garnet - You only need 1 chip per bottle. If you do not literally want to put a garnet in your bottle, then have a decent-sized garnet on your altar space to use. I associate garnets with connecting with spirits.
  • Obsidian - 1 chip per bottle, or a larger piece used as part of the ritual. A powerful protective stone, but can be used offensively. It was used as a weapon IRL, remember that.
  • Nettles - Also used for protection and 'return to sender' type things.
  • Mugwort - Amplifying the rest of it, basically.
  • Orange Lily - A flower I commonly use for malefic magic.
  • Crushed Cinnamon Stick and/or a small dab of Cinnamon Essential Oil - Be sure that the cinnamon oil is less than 2% of the total mixture. I used about 0.5% This is to add some extra "kick" to your oil, and it smells great. Again, be wary of getting this on your skin if you're sensitive to it.
  • Bottle(s) - To put it in. I often put my oil into multiple small bottles since I sometimes find opening/closing the same bottle of anointing oil constantly decreases its effectiveness over time (also, having many small vials means I can give friends samples or sell extras). But sometimes I just get a huge jar and then distribute it into tiny bottles later.

Now, despite these ingredients mostly being about protection, this oil can still be used offensively for any sort of hex, though it is best recommended if it's a hex in genuine self-defense, or as some sort of proper punishment for a heinous deed. Don't come up to me asking if your situation warrants it, I don't control you.

If you don't need any further instruction and just wanted the ingredients list, great! Buuut if you're new to mixing oils and don't know how to do this, look below:

STEP 1

Prepare your altar space and ingredients ahead of time. You only have a limited amount of time to actually gather the eclipse energies, after all. Make sure to properly cleanse your area and make sure there's no residual energies from any other previous spellwork.

STEP 2

OK. Now you need to actually, like... Figure out how you're going to gather the energy. Depending on your practice, you can do one of several things. I do a combination of all three:

  • Invoke spirits or deities to help you. Personally, I ask some demon familiars to help me in exchange for some alcohol and a sample of the finished anointing oil. If you have any other entities you trust, just go with your gut. If you want to invoke someone but don't particularly know who, then go with an entity known for protection, fire energies, hexes, or creative/magical pursuits.
    • I would generally avoid lunar or solar-based entities due to eclipses commonly being seen as a disruption of both. (This would depend on your specific religion however).
  • Use your own power and energy work to command/move the energies around (without accidentally absorbing them all).
    • Some people use a wand or another similar tool to direct the energies without actually directing them through yourself.
  • Set up an automated astral construct, attached to some crystal or something and set in line of sight of the eclipse to automatically gather energies for you.

There's probably other ways that I didn't get to, but if you know something I don't, then go ahead and do it.

STEP 3

This part is pretty straightforward and I can't give specifics due to your own personal practice possibly being different, as per step 2.

Basically, during the eclipse itself, focus on moving the energy from the eclipse to your crystals and metal foil, while stirring the ingredients together. How much of the herbs and such you use will be up to personal preference- I always eyeball it.

This part takes a lot of concentration for a long time if you're just doing it all by yourself, which is why I recommend you either make a construct or invoke an entity to assist you. Essentially, this ritual starts and ends when the eclipse starts and ends. (You could cut it shorter if you want, but I went for the whole thing for max efficacy.)

Since I use the stone chips inside my oil, I mix them all into the oil anyway while I'm stirring it. You should imagine the energy as going into a sort of vortex, like a whirlpool, into the oil mixture. The foil is gonna make it pretty to look at.

The reason why we are adding the stones and foil to the mixture is so it "holds" better. Like keeping in a battery. I find that other oils might lose their kick over time if they don't have extra components in there to help store the energy outside of them just being oil.

While stirring, it may help to have some music playing, or have some kind of chant that you can recite to help keep you on task. I'm partially a theological Daoist, so I will usually make a related affirmation statement and recite it 108 times. If there's still time, I'll do a different statement and recite that 108 times.

STEP 4

Well. After the eclipse ends, you have your oil! Yay! If you invoked any spirits then thank them, pour the oil into bottles, don't make too much of a mess, and try not to get it all over your hands.

And, as always- cleanse your space afterward. Eclipse energies can absolutely mess up spellwork if not used properly.

STEP 5 (OPTIONAL)

If you want, you can create some kind of sigil to draw on a paper and tape to your bottle. Sometimes people will do this if they want an extra spell layer to help keep the contents magically "fresh", like putting a seal on it.

Since a lot of my sigils are pictographs, I use this one as a base for any kind of oil I'm making, and then draw inside a smaller symbol indicative of what this oil is supposed to be. In this case, I'd draw some kind of symbol representing an eclipse (if you want ideas you can just google "eclipse symbol")
