President Glasya-Labolas

Information on President/Earl Glasya-Labolas. (Though the Stellas Daemonum calls him a king, I will be using his Ars Goetia title.)

If you don't know anything about this demon, this website has excerpts from the popular canon(s) associated with them.

Overview

If he likes you, he is a really friendly guy. Most of the times I have contacted him, he's always grinning from something or another. He finds many things amusing, especially chaos of all kinds. However, this applies to "bad" things too, such as his historical association with bloodshed.

While I don't think that any spirit in the Ars Goetia is dangerous for the caster, I do think that you should really watch what you say about this one when praying to him or forming a pact. And remember: Just because he's chill with me doesn't mean he'll be chill with you. Use your best judgment and do not work with a demon if you think they might harm you. (Not because they might literally harm you, but because going in with that expectation may sour the relationship immediately.)

Personal Experiences, Detailed

First Impressions

When I first started working with this spirit, I wasn't really sure what to expect. He looked kind of like a dog as depicted in the Infernal Dictionary. I expected him to be brown, but he was gold. I couldn't tell what the breed was, but it was kind of like if you somehow crossed a golden retriever with a dachshund.

A lot of entities enjoy creating a large energetic presence. I think that he could have if he wanted to, but his energy was mostly concentrated in the projection of him. I could feel it looming around. Such as when he is around me, the air just feels... weird. It's not thicker literally, but my brain keeps making signals like I would have to put my hand into a cloud if I tried to touch where he was.

He was also very giddy the first time I properly called him. I think he knew that I was going to end up cursing a bunch of people later. He's been very nice to me, encouraging whatever I do. But he's also been stern with me when it was necessary (alerting me that my wards sucked at the moment).

NOTE:

I am well ware that there's a decent amount of people who find him rude or that he has trigger-happy anger. I don't think this is wrong. He does seem like the type to have that other side to him. It's just that he's showing me his fun chaos side. Demons have different "faces", just like how we switch from job mode to home mode.

That being said, I would be polite to him when meeting him for the first time. But out some offerings and welcome him to your home. But don't be a pushover brown-noser about it.

Other

Yellow and gold are good colors for him. This might be why he appeared to me as a golden hound. Spicy foods are good to give him, but sour works just as well. He also works well with mint, especially when it has a very sharp taste/smell.

His resume with regards to his powers might seem weird. But I think it makes sense. He's here to turn everything on its head. This is why he is such a good divinatory spirit to use- he can tell you when something is a bad idea, because he knows all the reactions that will happen.

However, he LOVES stirring up chaos whenever possible. If you have a bone to pick with someone, this is the spirit you would want to call... Sometimes. His power can have a wide range of effect if the caster is not careful. And, since he likes chaos, trying to dull his power is not a good idea unless you two are peas in a pod.

Unlike Andras, he has never asked me to reconsider a curse. Andras thinks some curses are a waste of time and energy depending on the situation. Glasya-Labolas is much more lively. He's in it for the fun of the game.

Identifying The Spirit

If you can sense spirits enough, then you'll probably be able to tell it's him pretty easily. He has a very distinct energy about him. It does feel "demonic" but it feels airy and glowing, yet still dark and heavy at the same time.

Like I said, some entities take up a whole room with their "aura", but for me, personally, it's not uncommon for Glas to "shrink" himself when I invoke him. Especially so it's a lot easier for him to gesture to things while I talk to him. When I am not meditating and I am invoking him normally, I will still "know" or feel a presence compressed in an area. Sometimes I get an energetic feeling of being blanketed, like he's resting on my head or something.

I've seen other people talk about how he has a big strong presence, and he definitely can. I think I might be an outlier having him be tiny when I summon him. As I said, his energy feels light and dark and dense all at the same time.

Magic-wise: Definitely hints of fire. But also a bit of air. The cross of Mercury and Mars.

Working Advice

Do not mix his magic with anyone else's during a ritual. It is possible to do, but I would advise not doing it until you have a good understanding of his nature and capabilities. As mentioned, he is an embodiment of chaos, and his energy is highly volatile- it can either cancel out other types of magic, or flip everything into unintended consequences.

I personally made the mistake of trying to call upon Andras and Glasya-Labolas at the same time. The results didn't backfire in the sense that nothing bad happened to me, but they didn't manifest at all. I would even say it was a setback.

He works pretty well with spur-of-the-moment curses- just don't be a wuss and regret it if it manifests.

And do not just ask if he "can" do something, ask if he "will" do it.

Ritual Results, etc

1

I first called him because I wanted to do a curse on someone and I thought Glas was an interesting demon. He was very polite (despite his boisterous nature) and the ritual went well. I didn't fully see the results since I am no longer in contact with her, but I heard from someone else that the target was getting paranoid and upset all the time.

2

As mentioned earlier, invoking him with Andras did not work. Andras later told me not to do that ever again.

3

Early on in my workings with him, I asked if he would give me some edge to my curses if I gave him a blood offering and some of my homemade shooting star oil. I was having trouble meditating properly at the time, so I was drawing tarot cards. I got the 10 of pentacles (usually denotes great material success), which I took as a great "yes".

I then asked if I should buy a ring with his sigil on it (the way I do for many of the demons I work with) and got the 8 of wands (speed).

Immediately after this session, I got a notification out of the blue that someone had decided to send me some money to reimburse me for helping them with a spiritual problem (one that I had said I would do for free). This amount was just enough to cover the full cost of ordering this ring.

4

One time I was having a huge issue with med withdrawal preventing me from focusing on my work. I couldn't think straight. I read somewhere that he can help clear a clouded mind, and asked him to help with this. It wasn't perfect- I was still getting distracted occasionally- but I felt a significant shift in ability, and I was able to get the things done that I wanted to do that day.
