Duke Bune / Bime

Information on Duke/Duchess Bune.

If you don't know anything about this demon, this website has excerpts from the popular canon(s) associated with them.

A moon-shaped amulet that utilizes Bune's simplified sigil inside.

This pendant is made of sterling silver wire, saffordite, gold topaz, gold apatite, sunstone beads, obsidian, and a blue tiger eye.

Overview

Many dukes that I've had the pleasure of meeting tend to be very responsive and show up easily, and Bune is no exception- though she can be somewhat harder to sense depending on what your good senses are. (I find she can be a bit quiet, and though she'll answer things bluntly, does not appear to be particularly chatty unless spoken to. This just appears to be a "that's just how I talk" kind of deal, not that she dislikes conversation.) Likewise, I can find Bune hard to read and have to rely on the direct words she's telling me rather than things like metaphorical body language or projected senses of feelings.

Like any demon, Bune can appear as any gender. I would say I see an even amount of people see them as male, female, or neither. When asked about preferences, he said he doesn't have one. As such, I might change the pronouns sometimes. Bune's main associations are with necromancy and riches. While grimoires may associate all dukes with the planet Venus, Bune's domains and demeanour align best with Saturn's properties, and I take this into account when using planet-themed materia with them.

Personal Experiences, Detailed

Alright, I'm going to be stereotypical here and say that I originally got into summoning Bune because she's the go-to demon for making money. And let me just say: there's a reason she's popular. There's even a whole website dedicated to Bune Success Stories. (Warning for occasional lightning flashes in the gif background of the site, but if you have an adblocker you can just remove it)

First Impressions

Bune feels like she's staring right in my face. Like, if she were a physical being, she would have been pressing up her face to my face trying to stare into my eyes. That's what it felt like.

To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure if my request for funds was recieved the first time I saw them, at the time. I didn't know if I had the right entity, or even if I was just imagining the encounter. (Even being an experienced spiritual practitioner, the non-physical nature of entities can still occasionally leave one guessing as to whether or not they have actually heeded your call.)

That night, when I went to sleep, I felt like I was falling out of my body and descending into "Hell". Hell as in whatever realm demons exist in. I landed at the throne of Bune, who was accompanied by two nameless demons- one at each side of them. Bune appeared as a deathly pale figure wrapped in some sort of dress or robes, as well as having some kind of headdress that had a veil around it. I sensed red eyes, but couldn't really make any other features about them. I couldn't even tell what color their hair was, since the image blended together too much.

I don't remember too much of what we talked about. I remarked that I was surprised I had landed there, since it's very hard for spirits (even gods) to pull me out of my body and make me project using the lucid dream method. She seemed amused and pleased with that.

Other

Do not expect a "get rich quick" scheme with Bune. She can provide insanely fast assistance for dire needs, but extra wants can take a lot longer. The boons you get are more likely to be the fruits of labor- though sometimes invoking her can influence people to be more likely to hand you some cash. It kind of depends on the situation. If you're already in a spot where cash can reach you and the universe just needs another nudge, Bune can work extremely fast. In general, however, Bune works as hard as you do. She's good for helping you get a job, apply for a loan, or attracting customers if you're a gig worker.

I will also note that I have been having more success over getting clients for custom commissions as opposed to selling premade artwork with my business, or trying to resell vintage items. It feels like things relating to direct action are more likely to be prioritized with her magic. Though, this may just be because in general it's easier to sell custom items than it is to sell premade items, and Bune's magic takes the path of least resistance.

NOTE: I've heard some people say that unless specified, you may recieve the money in a less-than-stellar way, such as an insurance payment for a tragedy, or inheritance money. This is why it is important to specify your request enough, even if it could potentially make the spell less effective. (e.g. "I want more customers" as opposed to "I want money".) One should specify the amount of money if possible as well, so you don't end up with an extra 20 if you need 200. Your request is also more likely to be fulfilled if it is a need as opposed to a want. This is just good advice for doing money magic in general, but double applies to a demon that has domain over the dead.

While many spirits appreciate a friendly and personal relationship with the practitioner, I would say that for Bune this is an absolute must if one wants to continually work with them. Bune appreciates hanging out, being shown things, and having things made for them. Remember that sometimes the most important thing you can give a spirit is your time, because it's the one thing you can never get back.

While oranges are a go-to, Bune also seems to appreciate anything citrus-related. Other than that, one must remember that he is a spirit of the dead. Bune has asked me for samples of my specialty ritual oils- namely the ones made for curses or associated malefic-aligned energies. In general, anything handmade is also a good choice to gift to Bune- especially if it's a baked good.

Finally: Bune loves people talking about her. She loves when people post success stories. They love the publicity. Unless Bune explicitly tells you not to talk about the deals made with him, yap away. Talk about it all you want. Tell your friends!

Warnings: Bune does not like self-destructive vices, especially ones that waste a ton of money and can drive you to debt (excessive alcohol use, gambling, etc). Do not make excuses for your addictions if you have any. Other than that, she is very non-judgemental. She just wants to make sure you're not being caught in a loop. Occasional drinking or buying a blind box as a little treat is fine.

Identifying The Spirit

Bune gives off what a lot of people would jokingly call the "INTJ Stare". I often know her presence just because I feel like something is staring into my soul. Other than that, she has a relatively solemn and heavy presence that one might expect from most gods/spirits that have domain over the dead. This does not mean that she is humourless, however, but you might have to explicitly ask what she's thinking or what she wants from you instead of trying to infer it. I have never seen Bune give off a sense of being angry, just Disappointed or Annoyed at the absolute worst.

Edit: As of writing this tidbit, I have seen Bune express anger once, and it was when a guy was threatening my life and trying to poach my magic creations. Bune is very protective of her charges.

Form-wise when it comes to psychic imagery, Bune appears as anything humanoid or draconic in nature. Usually he appears as some kind of dragon to me, and may or may not have three heads. I wonder if the stereotypical person with dragon heads is more of a metaphor for the various forms they can take (similarly to how Egyptian gods were not necessarily literally people with animal heads, but it was a representation of the fact they could take on a variety of forms).

While it's common for spirits to give off a sort of chilly air when around, I find that it's very prominent with Bune. I usually summon and talk to spirits while doing a meditation session laying in my bed, and when summoning Bune I usually get the feeling of a big cold cloud over my body, like she's a giant ghost cat curled up on top of me.

Despite how their presence feels, Bune is generally pretty good-natured and can even get quite intimate (something many people don't expect without prior knowledge). Like with many necromantic spirits, anyone is welcome to work with Bune. After all- death does not descriminate. It comes for us all in the end.

Ritual Results, etc

1

The first time I invoked her, I was asking for money. The next day, someone bought one of my art pieces. It wasn't much, but it was the first purchase on my art store made in months, so I was like "yeah I'll take that". About a week later, my mom gave me extra money for my birthday, despite already giving me some earlier- like she had forgotten about it.

In return, as a sign of extra gratitude, I made a pendant for her to hang on my altar.

2

I often invoke Bune to help get my handmade jewelry/other art moving. I usually get one more sale after a successful ritual. Nothing too hard-hitting, but definitely worth the time.

3

Invoking Bune to help get some of my inherited vintage stuff moving has definitely worked- I've had pieces moving that were otherwise sitting there for like 2 years. (I used to be really bad at trying to do wealth magic on my own). Dantalion had to help me with the rest, but that was more to influence specific people to buy. I think Bune might be better for drawing in general traffic.

4

There was this one startup company/website that I really liked. I asked Bune if I should become an investor in it. She told me not to bother, with the implication that the startup was going to crash and burn. It did. Glad I saved my money.

5

Once I had started regular work with the duke, I wanted to be sure that they definitely wanted to take our relationship to a more serious level. We had negotiated a sort of contract, but I was still unsure of if the meditation session I did to contact them was a real experience, or if it was just a daydream my brain made up while meditating in absence of getting a real response.

In order to assuage my worries, I had specifically asked for help in affording a bracelet I'd had my eye on. I've always wanted a purple jade bracelet made with gold, but those could be expensive. I told them that if they could help me get this bracelet, I'd take that as a positive sign for our terms. Well, I found a really good bracelet I wanted, and the seller sent me an offer for like 50$ off due to a cosmetic defect on the inside layer of it (would not be seen while wearing it). It was already being priced fairly, so that was a steal.

To top it all off, I had a big sale the same day I got the offer, so once my payday came in, I'd definitely have enough. I took this as a good enough sign and paid for the bracelet with my credit card, then paid off my card when my transfer came in. I still wear it all the time, now.

6

Almost forgot to mention this one but one time my friend's car broke and I directed them to ask Bune for assistance. Some other friends then gave them money to fix the car soon after.
